A Practical Training Series in Digitisation and 3D Modelling Call for Expressions of Interest

We invite museum and cultural heritage professionals to register their interest in a free, five-part modular training series focused on 3D digitisation, modelling, and inclusive exhibition design.

This hands-on programme is led by Tadhg Charles,  an artist, lecturer, and researcher at Northumbria University, specialising in accessible design through digital tools. Delivered in collaboration with the Hunt Museum and 3DBigDataSpace, the sessions are designed to build practical skills and conceptual understanding for integrating 3D technologies into cultural settings.

Participants will learn about:

  • 3D scanning and photogrammetry for cultural heritage objects
  • Editing and refining digital models
  • Designing for tactile and sensory engagement
  • Preparing models for sustainable fabrication and gallery use
  • Licensing, metadata, and open-access sharing

Who should attend:
Museum professionals, educators, designers, researchers, and anyone interested in inclusive heritage practices.

Format & Commitment:

  • Five fortnightly sessions including: 
  • Optional in-person full-day workshop at the Hunt Museum which will also be streamed online in real time
  • 4 x online sessions ( 2 hours training + 1 hour tutorial time)
  • Open to participants with no prior experience

Dates: Starting in early October 2025
